Notes on Using the Index
  • The index was too long to keep as one document. When you click on a state link, you go to a document for the state you have chosen. This means that you cannot browse through all states at once. Therefore, if you know the name of the newspaper, but not the state, use the Title Index
  • If the state is not listed, MTSU has no newspapers available.
  • Newspapers are listed alphabetically. When "the" is the first title word, it is filed under the second. (e.g., The Statesman is under "s")
  • When a newspaper has changed names, the succeeding names are given in chronological order and marked "continuation."
  • Printing: Some state sites can be several pages long! Unless you want all pages, use "Print Preview" from the your web browser's "File menu" to see the site with page numbers. Close "Print Preview" and choose "print." Here you can enter the specific page number(s) you want to send to the printer.
